All that aside, I'm curious as to who you're refering to.
As far as what's been taken down, it was taken down because it really was copyright. If the "fake claim" problem was as bad as you say it was, then there would be a lot less material here to choose from. Hell, the Archive probably wouldn't exist at all because it wouldn't be worth the hassle to keep it running. And just because a movie is old doesn't mean it belongs here. It has to be public domain. Copyright is copyright, period.
